ZIMBABWE
international defender Thomas Svesve is currently holding trials
with a number of top clubs in Malaysia.
Svesve, who turned out for the
relegated Mwana Africa in the just ended season is said to have
quietly left the country two weeks ago for the East Asian country
with a number of unnamed clubs.
According to a close source, the tough as
teak defender has been out of contract with Mwana Africa.
“Svesve is in Malaysia holding
trials with a number of clubs. He has been out of contract with
Mwana Africa so even if he fails to make the grade, he will not be
playing for them.
“When he left for Malaysia, Thomas
was very confident of making the grade in that country. I hope he
will succeed,” said the source.
The source added that if Svesve fails to
make the grade, he has set his sights at joining either Dynamos or
Highlanders.
“If he fails to make the grade, Svesve wants to
join either Dynamos or Highlanders. He wants to play in Africa next
season. If you remember, he once approached the two clubs upon
return from South Africa two seasons ago, but they were not
offering favorable deals. He hopes this time they will offer better
packages,” said the source.
Svesve, who captained Mwana Africa in the
just ended season was part of the Warriors squad that toured
Vietnam last month.
Svesve rose to prominence while turning
out for the now defunct Sporting Lions during the time when the
team was bankrolled by Chimurenga Music Guru in 2005.
The following season Svesve moved to
Bulawayo where he joined former champions Highlanders.
At Highlanders Svesve formed a formidable
partnership with Dazzy Kapenya, Thulani “Biya” Ncube
who is now based in the United States and Blessing Gumiso.
In mid 2005 season, Svesve, together with
Kapenya then moved to the South Africa African Premiership where he
joined Manning Rangers.
The following season saw the Mbare based
defender packing his boys back home where he joined the then cash
rich Mwana Africa.
He was part of the Mwana Africa team that
held the nation spellbound by reaching the third round of the
Confederations Cup. |
