WARRIORS and
Masvingo United midfielder Ovidy Karuru has expressed his desire to
play for Dynamos when the transfer window opens in two weeks
time.
Karuru, who held trials at
Newcastle United in June, is one of the players targeted by the
Glamour Boys as they look to strengthen the team ahead of the
Champions’ League group matches.
The other players are Zimbabwe and Motor
Action midfielder Clement Matwu and Method Mwanjali of CAPS
United.
Karuru said his heart has always been with
Dynamos and it will be a dream come true for him if he were to be
signed by the team.
“I have always wanted to play for
Dynamos. Things are being sorted out and I think everything will be
finalized when the transfer window opens. Masvingo United have
treated me well, but I would want to play in the Africa Champions
League,” he said.
The national Under 20 captain also added
that a number of clubs are interested in his services, but his
heart is with Dynamos.
“Dynamos are a big institution and that is why I
would want to play for the team. Moreover, they will be playing
against the best in Africa and every player would want to be
involved with such a team. However, everything will have to be
agreed on by Masvingo United,” he said.
Karuru is one of the players the Dynamos
executive led by Partson Moyo was targeting and it is not clear if
the splinter Ernest Kamba led executive will be interested in the
player.
Dynamos, who won their first Premier
Soccer League championship in the new millennium last year are
caged in the same group as ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire and
Egyptian giants Zamaleck and Al Ahly in the Champions League.
The team got the better of Tunisian giants
Etole du Sahel in the second round to pull through to the
mini-league phase of the Champions league.
Dynamos made history in 1998 by becoming
the first local side to reach the finals of the competition, but
controversially lost to ASEC Mimosas in final. |
