Funny it is what can reveal the talent that is in a person as has been revealed in urban groover MC VILLA.

The young man who went popular some years back with Unodzoka here has come up with a sungura song following the controversy surrounding his purported pirating of Macheso’s new album Ndezvashe-eh. The song sounds what seems to be some harsh words on Macheso. Though in the song it sounds as if he is talking of a real Madhuve whom he is being alleged to be in love with, those in the know are saying this song was directed at Macheso himself. Last year VILLA made the headlines of entertainment news after it was found that he was burning the yet to be released album of Alick Macheso in his Mbare homestead. This matter was taken to the courts where I believe it is up to now.

However in a rage of fit the urban groover has decided to lash out at Macheso but in an indirect way. Those in the know can confirm that the song is directed at Macheso but if an ordinary person was to listen to it, it would sound just like a good sungura song. Some of the words go like, “Kwaita mamhepo rwendo rwuno atadza kunyara. Mhamha hanzi ndadenha ndatora madhuve. Ndomudiiko handidi madhuve wako anondipeiko gara namadhuve wako, Ripiko ibhazi ripiko, riripo igame ripiko dembare nebosso. Ndinaro rangu bhebhi handimutyire mucross border ndozvandomudira.”

Madhuve is a song from Macheso’s Ndezvashe-eh album and it became a hit in many homesteads. Villa in his song says why should he take Madhuve as he doesn’t need her and continues to say what type of a game or a bus is Madhuve. These words go to show that he is indirectly telling Macheso that he does not need his music to survive. As he goes on to say ndinaro rangu bhebhi handimutyire mucross border ndozvandomudira, VILLA was telling Macheso of his other side of life. The young musician is a cross border trader other than being a musician and has on numerous times been in Mozambique and South Africa as a trader.

This therefore is a message to Macheso that he has other things that he does in life that give him a way of living not the burning of music as he did with Macheso’s album. However irrespective of the fact that the song is an indirect lashing at Macheso, it has showed where the musician stands in the musical genres of this country. VILLA has been wanting a stake in the urban grooves music but it has not been coming out so well but this song he has done has proven how good he is as a sungura singer.

Despite it being a lashing out song it is really good and one can not resist listening to it. I believe if it gets to the airwaves, it is going to be so popular. Had he decided to go this way from the moment he launched his musical career, he could have gone miles by now.
