Those who say Makoni is working alongside Mugabe should possibly think again. Take into consideration the existence of Makoni's backers- Ibbo Mandaza and Retired Major Mbudzi. 
 
Mandaza and Mbudzi were suspended, if not expelled from Zanu PF. Mbudzi was even linked to the famous Tsholotsho meeting which led to the expulsion of Jonathan Moyo from Zanu PF. There is hardly any link between that team-including Makoni, working alongside Mugabe to 'divide' votes.
